A while back I won an auction for a fanfic from Emma Grant. I knew exactly what I wanted and then….well then setlock happened. Once I saw everything from setlock then everything effin changed.
I said “Hey let’s just put off the fic until after season 3 finishes” and she agreed and noooow it is taking all my willpower to not email her my prompt right now. Because right now my prompt would be “Just make it all okay. For the love of God make it all okay. Also kill off Janine before she gets rid of the bees at the cottage.”
I just need it to be all okay again. And I don’t know how to prompt that seeing as how I actually do like Mary.

Wow. Of all the people to reply it’s you two. Two people who’ve wrote some of my absolute favorites. Of course you’re both obviously quite horrible. You can’t kill off Mary. It’s too late. It’s against all the rules. You don’t kill off a pregnant lady. You can kill her off in childbirth but the baby has to survive or vice versa. So absolute best case I have to chose between Mary or the baby. But then that’s nuts. I have to keep Mary alive. I just can’t kill her off. Maybe Mary and Janine can fall in love? That might save it all. I have to give Mary a happy ending. I have to keep the baby alive. Oh GOD this is the worst.
Also I was sure Moriarty wasn’t alive but then I read the Q/A from Moffat and Gatiss and now I think he actually is still alive….so i dunno,
I do know that Sherlock gets a dog. That’s part of my prompt. Sherlock gets a new fuckin dog.

Very much agree. I just woke up. It’s 4:42 AM and I’m so pissed off that John reminds me of Claudio from Much Ado About Nothing. Simplistic connection but Claudio is a moron in love and everyone else figures everything out for him and he just goes along with it. He doesn’t think for himself.

I literally emailed three tv writer friends to help me figure out a prompt. They all say I can’t kill her and keep an audience. They did have other advice that was helpful. Still. Quite frustrating to keep her alive. The following we laughed at the melodrama of it all but he emailed this and was frustrated that he too couldn’t think of a way to get rid of a pregnant lady once introduced.
"If it’s a soap," one said "you could make it someone else’s baby. That’d win your viewers over to allow an affair."
Blah.
"We should all be better than this." I told everyone on the email
"We are dammit!" was the reply.
Everyone is still thinking about it.

i think there’s going to be a lot of “let’s pretend that never happened” going around for awhile…series 3 was just…odd. not bad necessarily, but weird.
Eh it was bad at times for me. But overall it was interesting. In essence they changed the show quite a bit this season… Only the future can tell us if it was a smart move or not.
As for let’s pretend that never happened… fuck me I try so hard to avoid that. Hell I’m such a purist that I rarely read AU’s myself.
The story IS out there. My boyfriend wrote a story (that got published the lil shit) about a dog fighting ring…. he wanted to write something that was seemingly controversial. Dogs died in the story.
If that motherfucker can write about a dog fight then dammit I am going to figure out what to do with a fuckin pregnant lady and get my guys together.

I was just starting to get on the OT3 train, but this episode killed it for me. And I can’t stomach much adultery. Sooo. Maybe I’ll be severely AU-ing this hiatus, too. :/
I hate that but it might be the only way. I hope, hope that there is another way. I’m annoyed that I can’t think of it right now but the story is out there. It simply has to exist.

I’ve gotten more sleep since then so now I’m trying my very best to see John’s side of the argument now. I’ll reblog a few if/when I find them. I can’t…hate John for a whole hiatus. It’s too awful to think about.
I try to think of it like: S1 & S2 were mainly told through John’s eyes, and Sherlock’s feelings were largely a mystery. Now in S3, we’re getting the world through Sherlock’s eyes (and damn if if isn’t a feelings-ey place), and John is the mystery.
Hopefully in S4 we’ll see the other side a bit more again. *grabby hands at S4*
Yes! So much to explore now.
John isn’t simple.
I think (and this is not a meta just how I feel) that I loved John for many reasons but one of them definitely is that he loves Sherlock. That he falls in line with this “sociopath” and giggles at crime scenes and I hate that I can be a bit simple about it but it’s true.
I loved that he loved Sherlock. I loved that he , this person the world views as ordinary but is not ordinary at all, puts aside his alpha male status and instead loved someone who needs him to put aside his alpha male status.
I loved that he was this stalwart character….but he’s not. He is with Sherlock for a reason. Just as he is with Mary. And I was hurt that he didn’t say but God….does it need saying?
I think… John is a British man who loves his wife and his best friend. We’ve all assumed this whole time that Sherlock was a great man and we wanted him to be good one day. We all assumed that he had the example of the good man sitting right in front of him. But noooo they’re both a bit damaged. They’re both trying to be good men. And isn’t that more interesting than my silly desire to make John this noble character who sits around waiting to be called upon like a prop. God it’s so much more interesting.
I’m a bit of a shit to hate him. Like you I am very excited for the next season. God there will be so much more to see.
They’re good writers. Next season I think they’re going to show me exactly how good.
