breakingnews:

Facebook said Thursday it has begun testing a system for users to send messages to people outside their circle of contacts for $1.

In a statement posted online, Facebook cited research showing that “imposing a financial cost on the sender may be the most effective way to discourage unwanted messages and facilitate delivery of messages that are relevant and useful.”

More on the story from the Wall Street Journalhere.

thwndryrstrng:

why’s everyone complaining about the world ending? There’s no point in acting surprised about it. All the planning charts and demolition orders have been on display at your local planning department in Alpha Centauri for 50 of your Earth years, so you’ve had plenty of time to lodge any formal complaint and it’s far too late to start making a fuss about it now

OH MY GOD!

Harley Holidays by ~originalceenote

Reuploading. Fixed blotchy layer where my background leaked through my white areas. Sheesh.

3 deep relooks at this pic to confirm she wasn’t holding a peen. NOT that I would mind that. we all know our Harley has a bigger one than most but I was really confused for a minute. So would’ve sent this out for a card..if I could ever get my shit together to send out cards.

OR this one!

In which I really try to take the high road...I'm documenting this for myself because normally omg I would've been so effin rude to this person but I wasn't. I was nice. Santa you best recognize that.

At first I wasn’t going to respond because your message came across as quite rude but in the end I think it would be helpful to you to get another point of view as compared to just your own.

1) Yes, I buy under [name redacted ]mostly on fats.

2) Like other people I have a notification set to send me an email whenever an entry is posted in the community that is how I am able to go quickly to review the items for sale. If I’m not at work (I work 10+ hour days sometimes) then I can go to the community and snatch up items within moments of their posting. If it’s something I think I might like now or eventually. i.e. I buy a lot that I don’t need but hey I might want it some day.

3) I didn’t mention any names, tag my entry, and even when someone pm’d me and asked me openly “who?” I didn’t say who it was. Nor did I post in the community feedback (like they actually want you to do) or on my live journal so I feel I took a LOT of options to not state who I had a complaint about and 99% (well you know now) people don’t know my live journal name as I like to keep separate worlds on the internet).

4) No, I didn’t make a counter offer on that item because I didn’t need to. I felt it was a fair price on this item.  However on your other posts you wouldn’t even budge 1 dollar. I’m sure you notice that all comments are public so when other people made offers on other items you were very adamant that you are a no haggle seller. Even when my lj friend made an offer to you (on an earlier post of yours) you came back and was very firm (and I’ll be honest a lil rude) that you feel you’ve already made the lowest available offer and will not go lower. This is, of course, your option however I  , and others (at least my friends in the comm), feel that no haggling in a community seems odd because on ebay you can set your minimum price and go from there as compared to a community where you can have a back and forth haggle process. It just seems odd is all since it’s obvious you don’t want the item any longer…why not haggle a little?  It’s your choice , of course, but some haggling just seems the norm among ALL the other consistent sellers. If it’s a worry about not finding the right shoppers on ebay, I’d like to encourage you to sign up and try. The reason being is that once you sell a few things people save your seller profile and they’ll consistently go back to your store and re-buy. I know I do! And I find myself bidding against a lot of the same people.Even made a friend or two from all the up-bidding there.

5) I never received any of the emails you’re talking about sending me three separate invoices or cancelling. In fact I’m happy to send you a screenshot showing my inbox. I even took the time to go to the community to say “hey I never got the invoice” Because personally I don’t like any outstanding invoices. I like the items paid ASAP. Though I don’t always go to the community to comment “paid!” if I’m in a rush since I figure the actually paying pretty much says that.  So if I was trying to avoid paying you or had changed my mind then it seems odd that I’d take the time to go to the community and pretty much say “Hey can you send it again”. I also show after you sent the first reminder (after I had asked for it) I paid. Your public comment shows in the community on the 10th. I have an email from paypal on the 9th saying “You have paid [name redacted]….”. It could be a matter of just emails going awry but your trying to ‘publicly shame’ doesn’t go over well. At the end of the day it’s just 35 dollars…come on. Who doesn’t have that? I don’t need to try to avoid that bill and never would. It’s just 35 bucks.

6)the fact is that I paid on the 9th and according to your email it just went out yesterday. Shipping within 5 days plus yesterday is over 2 weeks. This takes into acct the initial 5 days because that choice is also something that’s pretty different from other sellers (sorry to keep comparing macys to gimbels but hey that’s what you do when you’re spending money). Most ship out much quicker. Again it’s your choice to send it out that much later with upfront information like you definitely DO give.  But when things like this happen (the no pickups) then it makes it that much worse in the end. short note:  I’ve purchased items after your post (from other sellers)  and have received items already from out of the country. Just a small thing. Now I’m sure your 5 day initial delay in shipping is due to your busy schedule however again when mistakes occur people end up waiting 1/2 a month to get an item after it’s been paid and that just is a bit odd

7) you ended by saying you won’t sell anymore to me. But if you’ve read my post (and it would appear you read some of it) then I already said I had planned to no longer buy from you. Nothing against you personally I’m sure you’re a really cool person but as a seller in the community you don’t appear to be really in the mindset to sell like the others. So no worries there. You got other buyers and I got other sellers.

8) As compared to the price you paid for the item if you’ve ever read any of my other posts on the matter I’ll just reiterate them here. Most buyers do not take into account how much you initially paid for the item. We didn’t pay that amount of the item. This is a selling community not a “please feel bad I wasted this amount of money on this item and now I want to make some it back” community. I think it’s ludicrous for people to think that should be taken into account. It just shouldn’t. Because that was your choice to purchase the item for that amount not ours. As buyers we really can only decide how much we will pay for an item and then go from there. I don’t go to my car dealership, etc and say “how much did you pay for this item? I want to make sure you come out okay on this”…Nope I want the best deal. [I bought my last car 4 grand under invoice]  So really I just can’t take into account the seller’s end. We all have to try to get the biggest bang for our bucks. That might seem a bit not-nice but it is a selling community.

So I think that’s all your points in your message. Although my initial post was made in annoyance— I called you a twat and I apologize for that I want you to know this message is truly sent as a buyer giving feedback to a seller in hopes it will help them continue to do business well. I really like your selling format as well—using the bullet points. I remember when I first saw it. It stated all the items very clearly and gave a lot of good information on the item.

Anyhoo At the end of the day we’re all just fats and should try to help out when possible. Good luck with your future sales.
