The Doctor meets a young Rita, or at least younger than she was during The God Complex, while investigating strange disturbances at a hospital. The Doctor doesn’t want to get attached to Rita after what happened last time, but as per usual companion-joining episodes, they end up having to save Britain together and he ends up offering to have her as his companion. After travelling together for a while, The Doctor and Rita go to Wales and bump [not literally] into Nasreen, from her point of a few years after The Hungry Earth was set. In a Donna Noble fashion, she says how she’d regretted not going with The Doctor after their first visit. She ends up joining them. Fabulousness ensues.
