You know, several times in the past week I’ve seen people ask questions, either anon or not, in which they were unsure about an issue and were afraid to offend, and so made pointed efforts to say that they were just confused and wondering. And every time I saw them shot down with sarcasm or insulted. Is there nothing a person can say to prevent this? Is there no safe way to admit that you don’t understand something? Because sometimes the snarky responses come across as not just rude, but cruel.

Aye yes. There are so many toxic people in this and other fandoms. I wish there was a safe haven of blogs for people to ask questions without fear of sarcasm or rebuke.
