Let’s play a game - every day we’ll discuss one episode of Veronica Mars and you give me your favorite scene from that episode and then tell me why it’s your favorite (feel free to include gifs, screenshots, interpretive dance videos, whatever strikes your fancy).
Today- THE PILOT
I’ll go first: Now since I think this episode is perfection from start to finish it’s hard to pick just one, but thems the rules so:
My favorite scene starts with the PCHers confronting Veronica in front of the Camelot where she fearlessly takes them on with Backup and her stun gun
WEEVIL: All right, one week. After that, we come for you, your boy and your little dog too.
VERONICA: Backup, be cool.
WEEVIL: You get lonely out here remember, Weevil love you long time.
VERONICA VOICEOVER: Quite a reputation I’ve got, huh? You wanna know how I lost my virginity? So do I.
This rolls right into the flashback of Shelly Pomroy’s party and this heartbreaking scene:
The reason I picked this as my favorite scene (and yes I’m counting it all as one) is because in these moments we get all of Veronica. The sassy and fearless detective on a stakeout, the ostracized girl, the rape that changed her, the hard shell and the marshmallow center. All the complexity of Veronica Mars (not to mention the amazing acting skills of Kirsten Bell) is on display in these few frames and I was HOOKED.
Now it’s your turn- tell me (us) your favorite moment from this episode.
I’M IN!
I love basically everything about this episode, but top honors, for me, go to Veronica’s lunch table confrontation with Weevil.
I kind of got talked into watching the show by online friends, and I wasn’t really sure I’d like it, but when this conversation happened, man I SAT UP AND TOOK NOTICE.
WEEVIL: Sister, the only time I care what a woman has to say is, is when she’s riding my big old hog but even then it’s not so much words, just a bunch of oohs and aahs, you know? VERONICA: So it’s big, huh? WEEVIL: Legendary. VERONICA: Well let’s see it. I mean if it’s as big as you say, I’ll be your girlfriend. [breathlessly] We could go to prom together. Her refusal to be intimidated surprises and amuses him and he laughs as he looks around at his fellow bikers, one of whom is Felix. VERONICA: What? What seems to be the problem? I’m on a schedule here, vato. FELIX: [offended] Dude, Weevil. Don’t let blondie talk to you like that! VERONICA: Sounds like your buddy here wants to see it too. [X]
I laughed about four times in about twenty seconds and was like yes THIS. THIS is the kind of girl I want to see on my screen. The wit. The hardness. The fearlessness. The way she jumps in to save Wallace without even really knowing him. I knew that if they followed through on the promise of this character the show would be (wait for it) epic.
A high school teacher is being called a hero after the brave actions he took to stop a gunman at North Thurston High School in Lacey, Washington, on Monday morning. Shots were first reported by students on Twitter around 10:30 a.m. At least two shots were heard in the school. Brady Olson, who teaches AP government, then sprung into action and risked his life in the process.
Hottest stare EVER…seriously, how did Athelstan not jump off that horse into Ragnar’s arms.
Who says he didn’t? I mean especially after that thigh gripping that Ragnar just never stops doing? Because we never actually see Ragnar let go. He just clutches tighter….
