Heh reapersun's stuff always comes out when I'm at work and I can never wait until I'm home so I always have this moment where I sneakily put my phone beneath my desk and read it all naughty like.

"I’m sorry. I got bored and drifted off."

I’m legitimately amused by this and the other responses to this… 20 minutes? An hour? Like Church was from the morning (Sunday School) and into the late afternoon (Closing of the church doors/offering) where I come from… but oh ya sorry about your twenty minutes of investment.

traumachu:

So I finally watched that video of construction workers saying nice/empowering things to women  that’s been going around my dash, expecting it to be a positive experience. At first it was. It’s so refreshing and pleasant to hear these men say affirming things, and you can see how absolutely shocked and delighted the women are, as they’re clearly expecting harassment. However, at the end of the video, the text says, “You’re not you when you’re hungry,” and it displays an appetizing shot of a Snickers bar. As those of us familiar with popular Snickers ads (which I have enjoyed in the past) know,  they usually focus on one person acting like someone completely different from their usual self, seen as a negative - and then after eating a Snickers bar, they return to normal, with a friend saying, “You’re a real _____ when you’re hungry.” At the beginning of this video, it states, “What happens when builders aren’t themselves? We thought we’d find out.” Within this framework, then it’s obvious that the anti-misogynistic, positive construction worker is meant to seen as laughable (despite how happy those women’s reactions are??) while cat-calling, street harassment, anti-feminist statements etc are the norm, and something you want these men to return to because it’s manly and right.

Here is a collection of youtube comments taken right from the first page after I watched the video. Now, I usually make it a cardinal rule not to read youtube comments unless I want to get angry - but I thought it would be really relevant to show the kind of attitudes that comes from ingrained misogyny. These are the types of attitudes that Snickers is presumably encouraging and thinks is the “proper” way for men to be. Those commenting, naturally, are all men. The majority of those speaking out against the ad were women. I saw a handful of men who were repulsed by the ad as well, and of course they were called slurs and had their masculinity mocked by their fellow men.

I wonder am I too judgmental and too quick to trust my own judgment of people…..

My boyfriend would say yes. I can’t say I disagree  with the idea that according to normal standards that I judge people too quickly…

But the thing is everyone is so transparent.

Everyone gives the game away far too quickly so yes I judge them based upon their own very obvious information that is screaming at me to see it…

Take this one coworker I had a few interactions with. One day she told me a tidbit of gossip about someone who disliked me.  Then I interacted with her again a few weeks later.  She once again told me the same bit of gossip she’d heard about me. Why is that?  Why was she so desperate to tell me this information that she repeated herself? Taking other evidence into account and you can easily tell that she needed an ally at work and she felt that she would ingratiate herself by telling me this gossip.  And later I was proved right when she said “I need someone to back me up on these things and I would really appreciate if you could help me with that.”

So did I neeeed to wait to find that information out? It was obvious.

Quick to judge? Yes.

But…accurate judgments? Also yes.

Hmm but does the accuracy excuse the behvaiour? Because once I’ve figured you out… you’re kinda dead to me. Soooo Hmm.

Anyhoo this is all only applicable to RL. Not online. You can’t figure people out too quickly online. Everyone’s masks are so beautifully intricate.

marvelentertainment:

Who could possibly steal Agent Coulson’s heart? The answer, it turns out, is Amy Acker.

Acker, known for her roles in fan favorite series such as “Angel,” “Person of Interest,” and “Dollhouse” as well as director Joss Whedon’s “Much Ado About Nothing,” will join “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” for an upcoming episode as Audrey, the “cellist” and love of Coulson’s life first mentioned in “Marvel’s The Avengers.”

Read her interview with us on Marvel.com

Ugh I dont wanna go home. Whenever i leave work and go home then it’s like “aww fuck now i’m supposed to be productive.” I have an incredible amount of free reign at work because I am really rather good at my job. I swan in at 10am (or later) and then I leave early. But when I go home there is my laptop and my drawing tablet and my dog and I just feel like such an unproductive shit because any night where I am not getting something done is a waste of time and…..the weight of that in my own fuckin home is just kind of shit.

I really wish I could just give up on my dreams and be happy with things as they are….

That’d be much simpler.
