Or wait is this why writers spend half a fuckin chapter mentioning someone’s race/background? I’ve always hated that but I guess if you take the other route then a lot of people miss it.

And then I stabbed my boyfriend with a fork.
It baffles me too. The colour of her skin isn’t mentioned a lot, but it’s mentioned, well, every time the colour of her skin is mentioned. And she’s always black.
Because I’m so starved for people of color representation, I easily picked up on her not being White. I’m guessing most people who read her as white are white because they’re used to reading stories about them #Kanyeshrug.
I think this was one of the best comments on the post and I’m reblogging it for the anon.
Specific parts are the bus driver bit but as Neil (I can call him Neil because we’re super cool like that and ya know that is his name….) said any time her skin color is mentioned it’s pretty obvious. Give it a re-read if you got the time and you’ll see it.

I think like the other person said it’s mostly that we’re starved for representation so we pick up on things that other more privileged races don’t.
